Embracing the Natural...

So its been about a year since I decided to embrace my naturally curly hair I can honestly say that im glad that i did!! My hair was damaged from heat, dry and unhealthy. My curl pattern a year ago was more wavy than curly and extremly frizzy! After trying several products to see what helped my hair and what didnt i have found some great staple products and the search for even better products is never done.

Ive come to the conclusion that my hair was extremely THRISTY! dry wouldnt even be the word to describe it. I had got it into my mind that overly oily hair was bad and i didnt know the difference between that and moisturized hair. Today my curl pattern is amazing...lol... and alot better than it was this time last year!

Happy I made this choice i love my hair more and more every day :)

Hugs and curly hair love!

Hair Products

On this curly hair journey I have tried several different products in my hair to try and define and moisturize my naturally curly hair. These are the products i use on a daily or weekly basis (minus a few) that i feel help with maintaining healthy and moisturized hair especially in this harsh winter weather. The items in the pic are numbered in order of use.

1. Tresemme Naturals Shampoo with lower sulfates $6
2. Tresemme Naturals Conditioner: Silicon free $6
3. Pantene Curly deep condition treatment $6
4. Shea moisture Curl enhancing smoothie $9.99
5. Jane Carter revitalizing leave in conditioner $9.99
6. Organic Therapy Coconut Oil (not pictured) $5.99
7. Organic Root Olive Oil conditioner (not pictured) $1.50 per pouch

the tresemme naturals conditioner makes your hair so soft and feels like silk! I think that is one of the best conditioners ive used ever! Im thinkin about using mixed chicks deep conditioner when im out of the pantene curly treatment which is a once a week treatment. After i put the shea moisture and leave in in my hair i diffuse my hair and pineapple it for 10 mins so it would fall the way i want it to. That's pretty much it as far as my hair regimen goes and my staple products! I hope it was helpful :)

my hair has consumed my thoughts...

I must admit that i havent always treated my hair with the respect that it deserves. I am blessed to have hair that doesnt need much maintenance (or good hair to some people lol) and i think that I abuse that privilege. So for the past month and a half I have been making the effort to take care of my hair and making it healthy. Believe me that long hair is not all its cracked up to be and not knowing exactly what to do with it is a job itself (but i guess everyone struggles with this :-/) but anyway I wash my hair about once a week because it gets oily fast and every other week ill keep it curly (natural) to minimize the heat i put on my hair. This small step seems to be working well and my hair just feels better. I also change the products that I use because all shampoos are not good for all types of hair regardless if it says it on the label or not.

I did some research on how to get and maintain healthy and growing hair and products with mineral oil are not good and the food that you intake as far as diets effect you hair as well. Eat healthy and your hair will reep the benefits :) Coconut oils and olive oil conditioners are good for scalp stimulation. I also read that washing your hair every week is perfectly fine and that average hair grows about 1/2 inch every month and if it is taken care of properly then you will be able to see the growth!

In august I told myself that if my hair grew down to my tail bone then i would cut it off and donate it :) My friend said he would cut his dread if i did my hair but idk how truthful he was lol but regardless of that I will cut my hair if it got to that length. Currently my hair is to the middle of my back...like right where my bra strap is! So ill keep you guys updated on the growth of my hair!!

Hugs and Love!
